Ants as Archaeologists
Materials recovered from thirty-eight anthills in ground alpha include: in the top row, travertine beads, nuggets of turquoise (un-worked and unbroken), black stone beads, and broken turquoise beads. In the center are catlinite beads and turquoise beads. The bottom row consists of un-worked fragments of turquoise, broken travertine beads, and flat pieces of turquoise, that are worked on one or more surfaces.
