Eric Sloane (1905-1985)

Eric Sloane was famous for painting clouds, barns and covered bridges, but he loved clouds the most. His cloud mural in the Air and Space Museum in the Smithsonian is 51 feet tall and 75 feet wide. Lindberg’s airplane hangs in front of it today. In the last fifty years of his life Eric wrote fifty books about the subjects he painted. Look for Seventeen Dollars a Square Inch in the book section of this site. It is Forrest Fenn’s personal tribute to his friend Eric Sloane, and many of his paintings and books are illustrated in full color.
